Ever taken a taxi cab in Mexico City? If you have then you would know these guys means business. It’s like being a passenger to one of the taxi cab missions in GTA Vice City Miami—short from being shot, you are being tossed about in the back like a sack of potatoes. It’s almost as bad as taking a taxi cab in India, but without the heat and tiny accommodations, or even a bus ride in Lesotho.
I took about five taxi cabs during my week stay in Distrito Federal de Mexico. And each Mexican bus / taxi driver follows the same strict criteria: go fast, don’t slow down for pedestrians, do quick turns hitting 40 mph, and leave passengers breathless.
Don’t get me wrong, the faster the better—rather be there in a minute than in ten. I will still take them as many times I visit, but buckle up and don’t eat before.
Here are some pictures I tried taking when I was in a VAN hitting about 100kmh in 60kmh street. There were some brief stops—you will notice them by the pics. (guess what...I lost the SD card...arggghhh!!!)
