Just the other day my girlfriend and I took our weekendly walk around our neighborhood of Coconut Grove, and spotted this elegant man standing at a corner. It wasn't his stance that fascinated me; people stand all the time, they stand in lines, line-ups, machine-gun executions and all variations of the kind. But what struck a cord was his sense of style. It shouldn't have resonated this much to me because I should be desensitized from Miami's notoriety of being a style capital of the world. But me think me brain had a hard time putting the obvious triangle shaped wood block into the circular hole - things weren't matching up.
My recourse was to take a picture and examine it for later discussion.
 Let's break it down:
His hat: a Panama hat, only a very few brave breed still wear hats that don't have a team logo stitched on it, but this guy does look good in it - a definite cherry topper. Glasses: Dark, mysterious...who are you, Orange pants? His coat: In Miami? It was quite hot that day, not a good idea while you're standing on a street corner but you can see this man cares about what the ladies are thinking - though not a very good color combo, I would have gone for a beige or off-white. Pocket Napkin: Purple and orange. C'mon now, this guy does have style, he's matching nose blowing cloth with his technicolor attire. His purse: This is going in all directions. But you know he's self-assured with his sexuality. He likes purses that's all. Man purses with a reptile skin.
Purple shirt: Purple. Guess to match his bright orange pants. Ten points for exposing some chest. C necklace charm: I'm guessing his name bgins with C. Charles - he's a not a Chuck type of guy, you can see it by his refined nature. Rings: Money comes into mind first. Not married second. Need larger ones third. Drink: It was a hot day. The man is thirsty. But this sets him back a bit. Brown paper bag, not a good sign here. Drunk on the street maybe? Is that guy homeless? Are those goodwill clothes? Paper bag drinks don't do it if you're styling and profiling; too many denotations to place him and his accessory in. Orange pants: the butterfly lure. Brighter colors to attract the opposite or same sex. But in this case his brightness seems to have triggered off more than appeal, it crossed over to "what is that guy wearing!" His shoes: which I like very much. It goes with his hat, glasses and paper bag drink.
He made this corner a very lively, upbeat section of Coconut Grove. He made the fine folks of Miami have a laugh and giggle, and in some instances others to admire and salivate for this wonderful beast of style and elegance. Not sure what his fate was for that day. By the time I left he was still there pacing the corner with drink at hand and a sense of style around him.
