Pilots get to have all the fun; try experimental planes, fuels, and girls. Well, probably not the latter but they get to break ground on what can possibly be new energy resources for the airline business.
Yesterday marks the day that the first biodiesel jet flight crossed the US. A total of 2,486 miles powered on algae (bio-diesel is derived from it) – the last 710 miles of the flight was a mixture of 50% bio-diesel and 50% standard jet fuel, which was used to gather performance data and demo capability of mixing both fuels. This run will sure have significant impact in how the world will begin to travel. And give test pilots better places to rest their hands on. You go, boy!
