Need Traffic Updates – Nokia is gonna help you get out of the bumper-to-bumper ride - Mobile Millennium.

Own, use, carry a Nokia or a GSP-equipped phone? Well, why don’t you help and contribute to the community for bettering your ride home. Nokia, UC Berkeley, NAVTEQ, California Department of transportation and a mess of others are conducting a public pilot that will collect and study traffic data received from GPS-enabled mobile devices to better your ride.

Soon you’ll be able to use your phone to find a better way out of that traffic jam; all through the help of a community of GPS-equipped wielding mobile users. The information being collected by each user will offer real-time information about traffic congestion to help the driver take the best route (e.g., alternative routes that aren’t highway-based, public transport or reschedule their trip.)

To learn more, register as a user, and/or download the user-friendly software to your phone visit their site. Participants must have phones that support Java applications and use GSM carriers (such as AT&T and T-Mobile.
